We put together a list of the biggest, best and boldest property managers in the vacation rental industry for the fourth year running. 

It took hours of investigative work from our team, and it really was a labour of love! The World’s Top 50 Property Managers list is an annual ranking by rental numbers of the world’s largest short-term rental property managers. It is compiled and published in October annually by us, Rentals United.

The Who’s Who of Niche channels 

Ahead of the coronavirus crisis, it became more evident that property managers need to diversify their marketing mix and grow less dependent on large OTAs. 

And if the challenging year behind us has taught us anything, having multiple different bookings sources is vital. 

We did some digging and looked through our own statistics to find that the most successful property managers are connected to an average of 11 channels, including the big 5 (Airbnb,, Agoda, Expedia and Vrbo). 

That leaves six other channels that help them generate more bookings, boost occupancy, and increase visibility, helping to cover as much ground as they can to increase their bookings. 

More often than not, these channels are high-performing niche websites that target specific types of travellers and drive incremental bookings. 

Niche websites are great for generating more bookings, boosting your occupancy, and even increasing your revenue per booking. They’re an essential part of a balanced vacation rental distribution strategy next to large OTAs and your own direct booking website.
